XA Ford Sedan
Motor: 383ci stroked 351 Cleveland supercharged.
Trans: Powerglide braked gearbox with 5000 stall.
Back end: 456 ratio Detroit 9 inch diff with 4 bar mounting.
Main sponsor: General Metal Recyclers Ltd.
I have been into Fords for many years (which prompted me to build this car - which took me approximately 2 years to complete), but have only been drag racing for about 4 years.
I have raced at Port Road four times now, and managed fastest Ford on more than one occasion. I also go to Masterton Motorplex three to four times per year.
A side line comment passed was: oldest living person with A.D.D. Speedy by name; Speedy by nature. "Always good for a show"

Colin "Shady" Lane
The rail was first raced in 1966 at the first Port Road, had a model A cab on it and ran a sidevalve V8 in it, in 68 fitted the Chev made it a bit lighter and did a 12 second 1/4 mile.
The rail was taken to Auckland and beat the top auckland rail driven by Brian Trigg also running 302 Chev small block.
It was the first time 2 ohv V8 rails had ever run against each other in NZ . This meeting was at Kopuku on the slack coal track near Huntly, april 1968.
The rail was stripped after the 1968 meeting and the front axel and wires now rest
in TOM SLICK the T that is raced today which was built first in 1969. This is TOM slicks
40th year, now running a bored out 312 with Chevy pistons 324.55 cubic ins.
Darren Riches
Darren has been enjoying the sport of drag racing since the Thunder Park days. His
first car was a T-Bucket fitted with a 400 small block, with a tunnel ram. His Ford Pop
has a Big block Chev, tunnel ram with twein 750 Demon carbs. Trans is a 2 stage
powerglide, with a 9inch Ford diff running 3/9 gears.
When I asked him how long he'd been racing at Port Road Drags, his response was "I'll
have to check my beer mugs!!"
He also stated that the only reason he'd miss Port Road was "If I was dead". The thing
that makes Port Road Drags so good is that I can drive up, drag and drive home.
We congratulate Darren for his overall win at the Burger Fuel Port Road Drags 2010.
Jon Lyne
Jon has been racing at Port Road since 1990, and first started racing with his 73 HQ Premier which ran a 350 Chevy. Currently John is involved in a massive 7 clubs. He's been to Muscle Car Madness 10 times, & Kemeu, also 10 times.
"I've raced at Taupo; Meremere; Levin; New Plymouth & Feilding." Jon currently owns 7 Holden's, including his father's brand new 73 HQ Prem, that his son Nathan reckons should be his. "JONSV8"
Dean Scott
A mechanic by trade, Dean works at Rivers Speed & Spares Ltd
riversspeed.co.nz
Deans been racing for 10 years, with 3 years in Super Sedan
.
Last week prior to coming down for his 3rd Port Road drags for 2010, he had dyno'd his HZ ute, spat a bore, and rebuilt it back to race spec . it runs a 496ci Big block Chev, with a 1071 super charger, twin 1275 dominator carbs, a turbo 400 trans & a 9 inch Ford diff on leaf springs.
Raj Patel
Raj has visited Port Road for the first time in 2010, and one of his first statements to me was "I'm definitely coming back, this is an awesome event!"
Rajs' blue XW Falcon runs a 429 Big block with a C6 trans and a 9 inch diff.
I've raced at Wanganui; Masterton, & New Plymouth
